Cake Decorating without the Mess!

Neat little trick to ensure that your white cake stand isn’t smeared with chocolate frosting when you present your beautiful cake!

Just slide a couple pieces of wax or parchment paper under the sides of the bottom of the cake.  Frost your entire cake, BAU, business as usual!

When you’re done frosting, carefully slide one piece of paper out from under the cake…

and then the other.  Voila!  A beautifully frosted cake on a pristine cake stand!

The Quiet & Calm of a Rainy Day

drops-791416_640

Nothing better than a rainy day.  The coziness of it, the quiet of it.

Too much sunshine, too many days in a row can be exhausting!  This is not a complaint – I promise!  I love the sun and beautiful, warm sunny days.  It’s just that since we’re in New England we only have 3 months of the weather and we just love to ‘choke the life out of it‘.  Meaning that we don’t like to waste a single moment of a beautiful day by spending it indoors.  Which also means that you are constantly on the move.  Going to the beach, on a hike, on a picnic, on a walk, a bike ride, a swim, running under the sprinkler, BBQs, parties, etc.  For people who generally spend 6 months of the year hibernating, this summer lifestyle is an extreme opposite!

So we savor the occasional rainy day.  And really, everyone should.  It’s natures way of telling you to slow down.  Take a deep breath.  Stop running.

It forces you to stay indoors.  Play indoors.  Work indoors. You’re not pulled in a million directions because a lot of options are suddenly off the table.  You don’t have to feel guilty about not taking full advantage of the sunshine, or the fresh air.

So, the next rainy day you encounter, embrace!
